Satoyama is the old word for the tended land between mountain and village — rice terraces, low hills, managed woods. Here it is reduced to soft dotted bands of colour, an abstract horizon to get lost in — less a picture of a place than the feeling of one.

The Satoyama Hills artwork is drawn in-house at the Calm & Oak studio and refined until the composition breathes, then mastered at high resolution and printed large across the front so the colours read exactly as painted. Designed by hand with digital tools guiding it; never scraped, never generic. Each Japandi‑Tee carries our wordmark, CALM AND OAK, COPENHAGEN.

Behind the design
Every Calm & Oak artwork starts as ink on paper in a small studio north of Copenhagen. We keep the imperfections — the dry brush, the open circle — because that is the point.
